Phlebotomy Technician

Students of the Phlebotomy Technician program must complete the Health Science Core Module in conjunction with the Phlebotomy Technician program. If the student has completed the Health Science Core Module in connection with a different career program with a passing grade, it is unnecessary to re-take it. The Phlebotomy Technician program trains students to perform duties that include blood drawing, storing blood and blood components, venipuncture, and basic processing.

Students will learn the circulatory system and its functions and pathology of diseases, law and ethics, critical policies and procedures including universal precautions, infection control, OSHA and CLIA guidelines, and how they apply to the Phlebotomy Technician’s duties and responsibilities. Students will demonstrate knowledge and apply skills in using medical tools and equipment relevant to the function of a Phlebotomy Technician.

Upon completing this program, graduates will possess the skills and knowledge to become entry-level Phlebotomy Technicians in hospitals, outpatient centers, clinics, diagnostic labs, medical centers, and other medical facilities.
